Quote of the week

Hi

Below is the quote I have displayed at the Stav Centre this week.
Below that the comment I have added. I was going to use something
by Bruce Lee but I haven't found quite the right thing yet. So
I went back in time a couple of thousand years to Sun Tzu instead.

"If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a
hundred battles without jeopardy."

from the Art of War by Sun Tzu who lived around 600BC

Martial Arts training is a process of getting your know yourself,
you physical and mental potential and why you react the way you do.
Many of our reactions are unconscious and often we do not even
know why we react the way we do. These unconscious reactions can
easily be used by someone who has ill intentions towards us. How
many times have you said 'yes' to something that you knew
was a bad idea before you had even thought about it?

Stav training teaches you to think and make a conscious response
for which you can take responsibility. Stav also teaches how to
read another person and see their real intentions even if they are
not fully aware of what they are doing themselves.

In Stav martial training you will learn how to use your own body to
its full potential through simple training exercises. You will
also learn how to see and think clearly as you respond to other
people. You will also learn how to read other people using all
your senses. This process is by no means easy or quick, so the
sooner you get started the better.

Graham
