Why don't women notice interesting cars?

One of the things we talk about in Stav a lot is 'seeing the
lines'. This is something you need to be capable of in order
to do Stav as a martial training system. This concept also applies
to seeing the web in something that is constructed, arguably, every
activity has its own web which an expert can see. In a basic way
you can see this in your own life in terms of what you notice and
what you don't. When I am driving I notice unusual or
interesting vehicles, but if I am traveling with Venetia and I say
look at that whatever the vehicle is she won't have noticed or
even know why I am interested. Not many women have developed the
ability to 'see' cars and motorcycles, but when it comes to
shoes or other accessories it is a different matter and in those
areas I am quite blind. On the other hand one thing we both do is
notice decor, especially badly done repairs or deteriorating fabric
of a building, work in building maintenance long enough and you
just can't help it.
In martial arts terms 'seeing the lines' means seeing the
line an opponent is using to get to you and which lines you can use
to reach them. It is about working with a weapon so that the staff
or axe is not on the line yet you can use the line as and when you
need to. It is also about seeing the web within the body and using
this awareness to disrupt balance and take control if you need to .
It is easier to demonstrate than explain, next opportunity is in
Salisbury on the 19th of October. More details at
http://www.iceandfire.org.uk/train.html I will warn you though, I
can show you how to start learning how to see the web in a few
hours. However, it will need years of dedicated practice before
awareness of the lines becomes intuitive, so you had better get
started soon hadn't you?

PS Yesterday I started to tell you about the time the power went
off at my previous address. To be specific the 13 amp circuit
failed. So I went and checked the consumer unit and it was just
one circuit, I turned it back on but the RCB immediately tripped
again. So I went back downstairs and disconnected everything and
tried the switch again, this time it stayed on. So I went back
downstairs and started reconnecting devices one by one, eventually
the RCB tripped again. What caused it was a extension lead which
was in my makeshift kitchen, The first thing to check was the plug,
so I pulled it from the socket and got a screwdriver....
