Flattery may get you nowhere, but it is still nice

Hi
I know I am getting obsessive but last time I checked there had
been 445 promotion (eg free) downloads of my first Kindle book
since Saturday morning. The promotion ends about this time
tomorrow morning and getting well over 500 downloads looks likely.
Of course how many people are actually going to pay money to
download and read it is another matter, I will tell you how that is
going in a weeks time. Also had a first review, quite positive and
4 out of 5 stars. The reviewer made a favourable comparison to
Neville Shute which I take as a compliment. Neville Shute was a
very popular British author during and after WW2, (just realised I
am mentioning the war two days running, don't worry I won't
make a habit of it.) Perhaps his best know work was called 'A
Town Like Alice' about Australians interred by the Japanese
during the war. He also wrote 'On the Beach' which
imagined the aftermath of nuclear war. Both these were made into
well regarded films. Perhaps my favourite Shute novel was 'The
Chequerboard' which is about war veterans coming to terms with
the post war world in the late 1940s. I read 'The
Chequerboard' quite recently and it presents a fascinating
picture of the immediate post war period without feeling at all
dated.

The theme of my book, The Chapel, is also about a veteran, although
of a very different war, coming to terms with life after the
military.

So I am flattered by the comparison but however much we are
inspired by the example of others it is essential that you find
your own authentic voice, perfect your style and discover your own
particular message to share with the world. Fightcamp is getting
very close and it will be a fascinating weekend of exploring
martial arts which are both traditional and yet expressed in very
personal and individual ways. It will be great to both learn from
and contribute too the whole event.

If you want to judge my novel writing style for yourself then you
have about 24 hours from time of posting this to download your free
copy from http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Chapel-ebook/dp/B00EEDEQN6/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1376119331&sr=1-1&keywords=The+Chapel
