An exhausted seagull

Published: Thu, 09/12/13

Hi
We picked the right week for weather as far as the camp was
concerned. Yesterday it was raining and windy here in Norfolk and
the field behind the barn seemed quite bleak. The only unusual
thing was a seagull just sitting in a small depression in the
ground almost completely motionless. A bit later he was walking
around just stretching his wings and then a bit later still he was
gone again. I have seen seagulls do that before, especially when
the weather turns bad and there are very strong winds. I think the
poor creatures just get blown off course and get exhausted fighting
the wind. So they need a rest and a chance to regain their
strength before continuing their journey.

Sometimes I know how they feel, since the camp finished I have been
trying to get a car through an MOT so we can sell it to a member of
Venetia's family, no big deal really but lying on cold concrete
while repairing the suspension isn't doing my back any good. So
I am looking forward to having that job finished so that I can have
a bit of a rest and really get stuck into making things happen for
Stav this autumn, full details soon but in the meantime there is a
signup page for the USA course and here are the details:
