Fitness for busy people

Hi
There has been some discussion recently in the media regarding
exercise for men. Well, more specifically vigorous exercise for
middle aged men. This was triggered by Andrew Marr's first
interviews since he had his stroke earlier in the year. Was it the
extreme exercise he was doing that triggered his stroke? No one
can be completely sure but as you get older you do have to be
careful. Another thing I read is that manual workers need to be
careful of doing heavy training after a hard day's labour, it
can just be too much for you.

My lifestyle seems to swing between heavy physical work (today I
have been hiking heavy wooden doors around in order to hang them in
a client's house) and days on the computer trying to write and
do other creative stuff. I can do a lot more physical training,
weapons, kettle bell etc, on days that I am doing sedentary work
and I have to be sensible if I have had a heavy day of physical
work. Some times there just isn't much time for any serious
physical training. However there is one constant and that is doing
the stances daily and I do them regardless of what else I am doing
that day. It only takes a few minutes morning and evening and it
means I have gently stretched and toned, regulated my breathing,
stabilized my posture and effectively meditated. It also means I
am always ready to go when the opportunities for further training
present themselves. I got through the Noble Science weekend with
no ill effects and had some very good training and I must have been
the oldest one there.

Doing the stances daily will make a big difference to your life. I
do teach other stuff on courses and camps of course but if all you
take away is being able to do the stances then you will have
learned something very important.

Flights are booked for me to come to the USA and teach in Annapolis
on the 11th to 13th of May
http://www.iceandfire.us/events/index.html or in the UK the Stav
Camp in Norfolk 5th to 8th of September http://www.stavcamp.org/ so
there you are opportunities to learn the Stances in the USA and the
UK.
