Three down, nine to go

Published: Tue, 02/19/13

Hi
We finally have a few days at home. With my mother is safely
settled in her new flat and then Venetia and I took a trip to
Norfolk. This was partly to see Venetia's family and it gave
us an opportunity to review the setting for the 2013 Stav Camp. We
will have a great space for training in, whatever the weather. Of
course we hope the weather will be good and it will be nicer if it
is, but it won't be massively inconvenient if it is wet some of
the time. We will have the facilities we need including showers
etc and a fairly level, well drained, field for camping on and
outdoor training. There is mature woodland next door for wood
craft training including tree and plant recognition and related
activities.

I have however carefully considered how much space is available and
I have decided to reduce the number of students to be accommodated
from 16 to 12. This is partly to ensure adequate space for camping
and training and also to ensure that everyone attending has a
reasonable share of individual attention from those teaching. At
time of writing three places have already been booked so if you are
keen to come hurry up and pay your deposit, places are going on a
strictly first come, first served, basis.

If you are a beginner then this will be a wonderful opportunity to
build up basic Stav training skills, I will make it my business to
ensure that you finish the camp able to do the stances correctly
and do basic training with staff and axe. You will also get a
chance to meet Ivar Hafskjold and see how he trains. For
experienced students of Stav there will be the opportunity to do
advanced training with staff, axe and close quarter self defence
training. You will also have the chance to work directly with
Ivar. Everyone will participate in Ivar's talks and
discussions. Some time will also be devoted to runelore, mythology
and rune craft. Website has been extensively updated so please
take a look at http://www.stavcamp.org/ and you can book online or
download booking form and send a cheque, so you can't say I
don't make it easy for you.
